Health Concerns:
VACCINATIONS
Yellow fever shots and malaria-preventive medication are required for a rainforest environment. Please consult your doctor at least a month before your trip.

WATER
The Reserva Amazonica Lodge at Tambopata has filtered river water that can be used for showers but is not safe to drink. Bottled drinking water is provided to all guests.

INSECTS
Although insects in the Tambopata region are not active transmitters of important diseases, we recommend visitors use repellent in order to elude insect irritation and, if possible, cover their arms, legs and feet with a good layer of clothing. Also, all cabanas at the lodges are equipped with mosquito nets which keep the insects out.

SUN PROTECTION
Visitors should bring sunglasses, a cap or hat, and plenty of sun block to protect themselves against the sun's UV rays.

Lodges:
We offer two different lodges in our tours to Tambopata. The first is more luxurious and expensive. The second one is more remote but comfortable and less expensive.

Reserva Amazonica
This lovely lodge is in the middle of the Amazon rainforest in a privately owned natural reserve next to the Tambopata National Park. It has been nicely designed and built with local materials fitting perfectly into the environment and reducing to a very low level any disturbance in the area. It has the best infrastructure in the region that includes an incredible canopy network and very comfortable rooms for the guests.

Sandoval Lake Lodge
Located deep in the Tambopata National Reserve, this lodge overlooks sparkling, palm-rimmed Sandoval Lake, the most beautiful and wildlife-rich of all lakes in the Reserve. This privileged location gives you the exclusive access to the lake in the early morning and late afternoon, the best time for wildlife watching.
